About Socio-Economically Disadvantage Groups Cell (SEDG)

As per directive mentioned by UGC college has established Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups Cell (SEDG Cell). The SEDG Cell aims at promoting equity, inclusion, and support for individuals from underprivileged or marginalized backgrounds.

Objectives of the SEDG Cell

1. Support and Empowerment

Provide academic, financial, psychological, and social support to students and staff from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds (including SC/ST/OBC, minorities, first-generation learners, rural/tribal populations, etc.).

2. Equity and Inclusion

Promote inclusive practices in education and employment, ensuring fair access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making.

3. Awareness and Sensitization

Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to sensitize others (students, faculties, and administration) to the challenges faced by disadvantaged groups.

4. Policy Implementation and Monitoring

Ensure that affirmative action policies, reservations, and welfare schemes are properly implemented and monitored.

5. Grievance Redressal System

Acts as a platform to listen to and resolve issues or discrimination complaints from marginalised/deprived group members.

  • Organizing Orientation Programs for SEDG students.
  • Liaisoning with Government Bodies for scholarships and welfare schemes.
  • Career Counselling & Skill Development tailored to the needs of marginalized groups.
  • Community Outreach Programs to connect with and uplift surrounding disadvantaged communities.
  • Conducting Research on socio-economic disparities and institutional inclusivity.

  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
  • Religious minorities.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
  • First-generation learners.
