The Right to Information Act, 2005 empowers citizens to seek information from public authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability.

About RTI

Under the Right to Information Act, 2005, any citizen of India may request information from a public authority, which is required to reply within 30 days.

How to File an RTI Application

1. Submit a written application in English, Hindi, or the official language of the area.
2. Clearly specify the information required.
3. Pay the prescribed application fee (usually ₹10).
4. Send the application to the PIO via post or submit it in person.

Fee Details

• Application Fee: ₹10
• Additional charges may apply for copies/documents as per RTI rules.

Time Limit

• 30 days from the date of receipt of the application.
• 48 hours in case of information concerning life and liberty.
